Patrick Sanchez grew up in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.  He spent his childhood in Clinton, Maryland and later moved with his family farther south to LaPlata, Maryland.  After enduring 12 years of Catholic school, Patrick attended George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where he majored in Psychology (with a minor in naps, The Price Is Right, and The Young and the Restless).

After college, Patrick settled in Northern Virginia and landed a job as a Customer Service Representative for the call center of a health insurance company in Falls Church, Virginia.  Desperate to get off the phones and stop getting yelled at by angry patients and doctors, Patrick applied for a promotion within the company as a proposal writer.  And believe it or not, despite the fact that his only writing experience consisted of a five page term paper on the Coke/Pepsi Cola Wars, some silly fool gave him the promotion.

Over the course of a year or two, Patrick honed his technical writing skills working on enormous proposals about claims administration and quality management (yawn!).  He eventually decided that if he could crank out three hundred page proposals, why not try his hand at fiction; accordingly, after years of writing, editing, and rewriting, he produced his first novel, Girlfriends, which he sold to Kensington Publishing.

Girlfriends
(currently in its 12th printing) became a Barnes and Noble  Best Seller and reached number four on Lambda Book Report's "Books Everyone Likes" Best Sellers List.  Girlfriends also received accolades from Publishers Weekly and The Village Voice as well as endorsements from personalities such as Rita Mae Brown, Suzanne Westenhoeffer, and Michael Musto.
Patrick's second novel, The Way It Is capitalized on the success of Girlfriends with rave reviews from Romantic Times Magazine, Booklist, and a host of other publications.  Girlfriends and The Way It Is were followed by Patrick's third novel, Tight, which became a Latina Magazine "Must Read Beach Book" and a Latina Style Magazine "Rave Review" while receiving an outstanding endorsement from New York Times best selling author, Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez.  Girlfriends, The Way It Is, and Tight have been published internationally in Russia, Poland, and Indonesia.

Patrick's most recent novel, Once Upon a Nervous Breakdown was released in August of 2007.  Called "Hilarious" by the The New York Post and "humorous and poignant" by Publishers Weekly, Once Upon a Nervous Breakdown is sure to be a fantastic follow-up to Patrick's' first three novels.

Patrick currently lives in Arlington, Virginia with his dachshund, Gomez.  He'd love to hear from you by e-mail.
